New Treasure...

'I seat myself at the typewriter and hope, and lurk'
                            -Mignon Eberhart

I have to confess, I have a little obsession with old typewriters! When I was very young, my nana gave me her old typewriter, a vintage Royal...

I will always remember how excited I was to sit down and start to write...with the clickety clack of the keys...a noise which seemed to echo the jumble of ideas in my brain. I don't care what anyone says...it's just not the same on a laptop!! I always felt far more creative with paper and ribbon! I am still mocked by my family for writing all my ideas on paper before approaching my laptop!! I can't help it, I don't feel complete without my notebook and pen! Anyway, I share this as I couldn't contain my excitement when I found a new addition  to my 'old school' family of writing tools in a local charity shop...not too old, but lovely all the same! And in working order! And the most gorgeous shade of duck egg blue...

Totally in love with it...

And so is my dog I think, who decided to lie down in front of it while I was trying to photograph it! That or he is just jealous of my new love!!

But how could I resist those eyes...don't worry Bailey, you'll never be replaced...well at least not by a typewriter!

Happy Friday!

All in the details...

Earlier this month I provided some extra details for Gillian & James lovely wedding at The Cathedral Quarter Hotel in Derby. Gillian has moved here from Canada so it was great to see all her family here for the big day!! The hotel is soooo beautiful with lots of amazing features like this incredible window on the staircase!

Gillian wanted a lovely area outside the reception room to reflect their love of travel and all things vintage. So I created a vintage style trunk table plan featuring places that they have visited together, luggage tags and a wishing tree for their guests to write their wishes and advice and a note from the bride and groom in my trusty old typewriter!
Gillian also chose these gorgeous 'honeymoon' tulips and red roses which I accented with gorgeous rich red oak leaves and placed in vintage containers to complete the table.

They had a fantastic day with family and friends and I trust they will have an amazing future together!
